S1-W4G-ST Data Consumption

There are 2 main aspects that uses the data on the GSM datalogger:

1. Firmware updates.

Firmware upgrade data consumption depends on the firmware file size and the number of devices being upgraded.

Typical firmware file sizes are:

  • Datalogger firmware: Approximately 1.5 MB per upgrade.

  • Inverter firmware: A few hundred KB up to 2 MB per upgrade.

  • Battery firmware: A few hundred KB up to 1 MB per upgrade.

If you upgrade multiple devices, the total data consumption will increase accordingly. For example, upgrading a datalogger, an inverter and a battery will consume approximately 2–4.5 MB or more, depending on the actual firmware file sizes.

2. Normal communication with Soliscloud.

Under normal operating conditions, regular communication is expected to consume approximately 15 MB per month,

The W4G data package provides 20 MB of data per month is it enough?

For typical operation, the 20 MB monthly W4G package should be sufficient, provided data usage remains within the expected limits.

The normal communication uses 15MB leaving around 5 MB per month available for additional usage.

This remaining data can support:

  • Firmware upgrades for connected devices.

  • Second-level data reporting, where more frequent data updates are required.

However, the available allowance for firmware upgrades and additional reporting is limited to approximately 5 MB per month under normal communication conditions. If several devices require firmware upgrades in the same month, the remaining allowance may be insufficient.
