WiFi Dataloggers Network Connection


Overview

This guide explains how to configure and troubleshoot WiFi dongles for Solis inverters. It includes indicator light definitions, configuration steps for different models, WiFi requirements, and solutions for common issues.

1. Indicator Lights

  • NET (Internet Indicator):
    • Solid: Successful connection to server
  • COM (Inverter Communication Indicator):
    • Solid: Successful connection between data logger and inverter
  • PWR (Power Indicator):
    • Indicates power status

2. Configuration Steps

Models S2-WL ST / S5-WiFi-ST (Bluetooth Method)

  1. Open Service → WiFi Configuration in the app.
  2. Scan QR code or enter logger SN.
  3. Select Configuration by Bluetooth.
  4. Choose device D_<serial number>.
  5. Connect to WLAN and enter WiFi password.
  6. Wait for green LED to turn solid (approx. 1 minute).

Models S3-WiFi-ST / S4-WiFi-ST (Browser Method)

  1. Same initial steps as above.
  2. Select Browser Configuration.
  3. Ensure green light flashes, then confirm.
  4. Connect to network named D_<serial number> using default password 123456789.
  5. Return to app, set password if first login.
  6. Connect phone to router WiFi and enter password in app.

3. WiFi Requirements

  • Frequency:
    • Most dongles support only 2.4GHz.
    • S5-WiFi-ST supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
  • Security:
    • WPA/WPA2 required; WPA3 supported only by S5-WiFi-ST.
  • DHCP:
    • Must be enabled for IP assignment.

4. Troubleshooting

Indicator Lights Off

  • Reinsert dongle
  • Ensure inverter is powered
  • Check port condition

Configuration Failed

  • Confirm WiFi band (2.4GHz) and disable “Smart Connect” if needed
  • Verify password accuracy
  • Grant app permissions (Location, Storage, Camera, Microphone)
  • Connect phone to dongle hotspot for web-based setup
  • Keep devices close to reduce interference
  • Enable DHCP and whitelist device if firewall is active
  • Check router device limits

Forgot Password

  • Reset data logger (long press >10s until yellow and green lights go out)
  • Note: Reset erases all data and network settings

Additional Tips

  • Avoid interference from other devices on 2.4GHz band
  • Ensure router supports required frequency and security settings
