EPM PRO - HV Metering
For some C&I systems, the export limitation must be sampled on the medium voltage side due to the presence of multiple low-voltage derived circuits.
NOTE: EPM Plus is not suitable for MV installations
By utilizing the EPM Pro with an external meter, MV transformers can be effectively monitored by supplying the meter with an LV power source and configuring the PT ratio accordingly.
In this case, a PT (or VT) will be required to convert the medium voltage level into an acceptable low voltage for the AC supply of the EPM device and for the AC voltage measurement of the smart meter.
Additionally, it will be necessary to modify the meter connections, connecting L2 and neutral, and connecting the CTs only to L1 and L3 as shown in the diagram.
Supply the meter from the LV Side
Install CTs on phase 1 and 3 on the MV side
Make sure the direction of CT 3 is opposite from CT 1
After the correct installation, the following modifications must also be made in the Meter settings:
Network type setting without N:
SET – PASS – 0001 – ENTER – Sys – Change from 3P4L to 3P3L – SET (twice) and when SAVE appears, press ENTER.
Setting the ratio of the voltage transformers (VT):
SET – PASS – 0001 – ENTER – Sys – IN – PT – Set ratio (e.g., 22000/100=220) – ENTER – SET (twice) – SAVE – ENTER.
Disable "Phase 2 voltage check" (L2 voltage check, not connected) in the EPM PRO settings:
Professional Settings – Volt Check – Uncheck phase 2.
The voltage value is calculated by the EPM using the reference value from the other two phases of the system.
If you don’t disable phase 2 you will get the following
