Solis Inverter: Do's and Don'ts for Site Technicians
This guide outlines essential do's and don'ts for site technicians working with Solis string inverters, ensuring safe and efficient operation and maintenance. Follow these guidelines to minimize risks and maintain optimal inverter performance. These recommendations are tailored to site technicians and are designed to prevent damage and guarantee safety.
- Please read the relevant inverter manual on-site first.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn on-site.
- Follow electrical safety standards for installations.
- Electrically isolate DC input and AC output before operation.
- Use overcurrent protection devices (OCPD).
- Install inverter per manual instructions.
- Ensure DC input voltage within limits.
- Store inverters in a clean, dry place.
- Place the inverter on a flat, hard surface.
- Maintain a minimum clearance of 500 mm around the inverter.
- Install the inverter under a canopy, roof, or protective structure.
- Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Crimp DC pins and tighten AC cable securely.
- Connect the inverter grounding cable as recommended.
- Use copper cables (1 kW – 40 kW) or aluminum cables with bi-metallic ring-type lugs (50 kW – 255 kW) on the AC side.
- Select “Grid-OFF” before parameter changes.
- Route DC and AC cables properly.
- Turn off both AC and DC switches to stop power generation.
- Only work that matches the installer’s qualifications and training is permitted.
- Do not connect PV array positive (+) or negative (-) to the ground.
- Do not remove the cover – risk of electric shock!
- Do not remove the cover until at least 5 minutes after disconnecting all power sources.
- Do not expose the inverter to direct heat sources, moisture, dust, vibrations, sparks, shocks, corrosive gases, or flammable gases in storage areas.
- Do not operate the inverter under direct sunlight.
- Do not install the inverter horizontally.
- Do not touch the inverter while it is operating.
- Do not use solvents, abrasives, or corrosive materials to clean the inverter.
- Do not disconnect AC or DC cables while the inverter is operating.
- Do not use undersized AC or DC cables.
- Do not leave non-isolated wires exposed on the AC side.
- Use adhesive tape to prevent moisture from entering the inverter.
- Do not crimp AC or DC cables using regular pliers.
