Local Update procedure for our S6 Series
Overview
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for updating the firmware locally on an S6 Hybrid inverter using the upgrade stick.
Table of content:
- Prerequisites
- DSP Upgrade Instruction
- HMI Upgrade Instruction
Prerequisites:
Before performing the upgrade, ensure the following:
- The Quick Setup has been completed prior to initial start-up.
- All AC and DC sources have been connected in accordance with the manual, tested, and isolated. (The inverter should remain off at this stage.)
- Switch on the battery. Disconnect the communication between the battery and the inverter. The battery icon will turn orange, and the power indicator will also display orange.
Refer to the image below:
DSP Upgrade Instruction:
Step 1: Prerequisites
- Prepare a USB disk (with protective plastic cover).
- Prepare an Upgrade Stick
Step 2: DSP File Preparation
- Copy the file 28062API.bin to the root directory of the USB disk.
(This is required for DSP28062 upgrade and is different from the DSP application file.) - Rename the application firmware file from xxxxxxxx.bin to 28062APP.bin.
- Copy 28062APP.bin to the root directory of the USB disk.
At this point, the USB disk root directory should contain two files as shown in the figure below:
- 28062API.bin
- 28062APP.bin
Important:
Ensure that all communication cables or sticks are disconnected before performing the upgrade.
Step 3: Upgrade Preparation
1. Insert the USB disk into the bottom of the Upgrade Stick.
2. Connect the Upgrade Stick to the COM port of the Solis inverter.

Important:
- Ensure the Upgrade Stick is fully inserted into the port with no visible gap.
- If not properly seated, the LEDs may light up, but the upgrade will fail.
Step 4: Upgrade Procedure
A) Initial Check
- On the Upgrade Stick, both the RED and GREEN LEDs should be lit.
- If not, long press the reset button until both LEDs illuminate.
- This indicates the Upgrade Stick is ready
B) Start Upgrade
- Short press (less than 1 second) the button on the Upgrade Stick.
- The Green LED should begin flashing.
Fast flashing: Firmware is downloading to the inverter.
Slow flashing: Firmware is installing on the inverter (stick is idle,
waiting for inverter response).
C) Completion
- If GREEN AND RED are constantly lit, the upgrade was successful.
- If only the RED LED remains lit, the upgrade failed.
In this case, reconnect the Upgrade Stick and repeat the procedure.
D) Verification:
- Check the current HMI version via Bluetooth connection to confirm the firmware version has been updated.
E) Disconnect the Upgrade Stick
HMI Upgrade Instruction:
Step 1: Prerequisites
- Prepare a USB disk (With protective plastic cover)
- Prepare an Upgrade Stick
Step 2: HMI File Preparation
- Rename the HMI firmware file from XXXXXXXXX.bin to HMI.bin.
- Store HMI.bin in the root directory of the USB disk.
Example:
Original file: 20-40K-PV_HMI_Ver.2F1_AS4777-15.bin
Renamed file: HMI.bin
Important:
Ensure that all communication cables or sticks are disconnected before performing the upgrade. Otherwise, the upgrade will fail.
Step 3: Upgrade Preparation
1. Insert the USB disk into the bottom of the Upgrade Stick.
2. Connect the Upgrade Stick to the Comm port of the Solis inverter.

Important:
- Ensure the Upgrade Stick is fully inserted into the port with no visible gap.
- If not properly seated, the LEDs may light up, but the upgrade will fail.
Step 4: Upgrade Procedure
A) Initial Check
- On the Upgrade Stick, all LEDs should be lit.
- The Upgrade Stick defaults to HMI update mode.
- If not, long press the reset button until all LEDs are lit.
B) Start Upgrade
- Short press (less than 1 second) the button on the Upgrade Stick.
- The Green and Yellow LEDs should begin flashing.
Fast flashing: Firmware is downloading to the inverter.
Slow flashing: Firmware is installing on the inverter.
C) Completion
- If all three LEDs (Green, Yellow, Red) are constantly lit, the upgrade was successful.
- If only the RED LED remains lit, the upgrade failed. In this case, reconnect the Upgrade Stick and repeat the procedure.
If the Green and Yellow lights are turned off and only the RED LED remains on, it means upgrade fails which requires reconnecting the upgrade sticks and redoing the above steps.
D) Verification
- Check the current HMI version via Bluetooth connection to confirm the update.
E) Disconnect the Upgrade Stick
