This guide provides step-by-step instructions for diagnosing and resolving network connection issues with S1-W4G-ST used in solar inverter systems. It covers indicator light meanings, configuration sequences, signal requirements, and common troubleshooting tips.

1. Indicator Lights and Their Meaning

  • NET (Internet Indicator):
    • Green: WiFi connection status
    • Blue: 4G cellular connection status
    • Solid light: Successful connection to server
  • COM (Inverter Communication Indicator):
    • Solid light: Successful connection between data logger and inverter
  • PWR (Power Indicator):
    • Indicates power status of the dongle

2. Working Sequence

WiFi Configuration

  1. Open the Service page in the monitoring app and select WiFi Configuration.
  2. Scan the QR code or enter the logger SN manually.
  3. Choose Configuration by Bluetooth.
  4. Select the device named D_<serial number>.
  5. Connect to the desired WLAN and enter the WiFi password.
  6. Wait for the green LED to turn solid (approx. 1 minute).

4G Configuration

  1. Navigate to Service → Local Operation.
  2. Connect via Bluetooth.
  3. Select the device and tap Setting → APN Set.
  4. Enter APN details (username/password optional) and save.

3. Signal & Configuration Requirements

  • WiFi:
    • Must be 2.4GHz (not 5GHz or 6GHz only)
    • WPA/WPA2 security (WPA3 not supported)
    • DHCP enabled
  • 4G:
    • SIM card activated with a valid data plan

4. Common Troubleshooting Steps

Indicator Lights Off

  • Reinsert dongle
  • Ensure inverter is powered on
  • Check for port damage

Configuration Failed

  • Confirm WiFi is 2.4GHz and password is correct
  • Verify APN settings
  • Ensure SIM card is active and properly inserted
  • Check network mode settings
  • Grant app permissions (Location, Storage, Camera, Microphone)
  • Keep devices close together to reduce interference
  • Enable router DHCP and whitelist device if firewall is active

Forgot Password

  • Reset the data logger (long press >10s until yellow and green lights go out)
  • Note: Reset erases all data and network settings

Additional Tips

  • Avoid interference from other devices on the 2.4GHz band
  • Check router limits on connected devices
  • Ensure monitoring stick hotspot is used during web-based configuration
