Do's & Don'ts

Solis String Inverter's Recommended Do's & Don'ts have been mentioned specifically for Site Technician, which would be of great help while doing operation and maintenance work.

1. DC input and AC output must be electrically isolated before operation.

2. Electrical installations must be done in accordance with the local and national regulatory and electrical safety standards.

3. To reduce the risk of fire, over-current protection devices (OCPD) are required for circuits connected to the inverter. Refer manual for recommendation

4. Inverter must be installed according to the instruction stated in the manual.

5. Dc input voltage must be less than its maximum input voltage of inverter.

6. Store the inverter in a clean and dry place, free of dust and dirt.

7. Store the inverter on a flat, hard surface – not inclined or upside down.

8. In the site where multiple inverters are installed the minimum clearance of 500 mm should be kept all the sides of inverter. 9. Inverter must be installed under the shadow of Canopy/Roof/Structure.

10.Adequate ventilation must be provided.

11.Crimp the DC pins properly the with cables and properly tight the AC cable.

12.Connect inverter grounding cable as per recommended.

13.For 1 kW – 40 kW inverter only use copper cable ac side, Connect AC cables without any lugs & for 50 kW- 255 kW aluminum cable can be used with bi-metallic ring type lugs.

14.Select the Grid-OFF during any parameter change, Like grid code, AC voltage window etc..

15.Use proper DC & AC cables routing through cable tray, PVC, Duct.

16.To stop the plant generation both AC & DC switches should be OFF, Like during net metering, preventive maintenance etc..

Don’t Dos’

1. Do not connect PV array positive (+) or negative (-) to the ground. To do so may cause serious damage to the inverter.

2. Risk of electric shock, Do not remove cover, Refer maintenance servicing to qualified and accredited service technician.

3. Risk of electric shock form energy stored in capacitors of the inverter, Do not remove the cover until 5 minutes after disconnecting all sources of supply. Service technician only.

4. In storage area, do not expose the inverter to Direct Heat source, Moisture, Dust, Vibration, Sparks, Shocks, Corrosive gas, Flammable gas

5. Do not expose inverter to direct sunlight during operation, It leads increase in operation temperature of inverter

6. Do not install the inverter horizontally.

7. Do not touch the inverter when it is operating. Some parts of the inverter may be hot and cause burns. Turn off the inverter and wait for a cool-down period before any maintenance or cleaning operation.

8. Never use solvent, abrasives or corrosive materials to clean the inverter.

9. Do not remove AC or DC cable while operation.

10. Do not use under rated AC or DC cables, refer manual for standard recommendation.

11. Do not use end-sleeve lugs and pin type lugs, leads heating and burning in AC termination.

12. Do not leave any screws open at ac side, use adhesive tape to avoid moisture in the inverter.

13. Do not crimp the AC or DC cables with normal pliers.
